Mixed Media

For our Final project in Observational Drawing 2, we were asked to do a mix media project. The medias I chose were screen-printing, acrylic, and oil pastel. At first I wasn’t really sure if I would be able to pull this off in time for turn in. But it just shows that you can do anything you put your mind to. I worked for about 2 weeks on this project. I really like how it turned out! I wish I would have been more careful on the screen-printing but it still turned out great!

Surrealism Finished Project

I had a lot of fun doing this project. I don't think I would change anything except maybe fill in some more empty space.

Surrealism Project

For our surrealism project we were able to do what ever we wanted. This was not as easy as it sounds. It took a couple days for me to come up with idea, but I think it turned out great! If I could change anything I would fill in more space.
Here are some of the pictures I used for reference:

Here is my sketch:

Still Life Project

For still life project we were able to pick anything we wanted to paint, I picked a rose. It took about 2 weeks, but It was definitely time well spent. I don't think I would change a thing.

Contemporary Still Life Artists

1.  Sharon Core

I liked this painting done by Sharon Core because of the use of color. By adding different colors to objects that you wouldn't expect it creates depth and detail an I hope to use this in my next project.

2. Ori Gersht

I picked this painting for my second inspiration because I like the motion the painting has. The spots of different colors bring the painting to life. And I would like to try and use this technique for my next project.

Acrylic Cupcake Painting

For this project we had to paint a still life of a cupcake of our choice. I learned a lot about shading throughout this process. I learned that not all shadows and highlights are black and white. I learned how to look for the different colors in the lights and darks. And I learned that a composition needs to be balance correctly or the viewer will not look at the focal point.

Acrylic White Object Painting

Our assignment was to paint white objects, I had eggs. Throughout this process I learned a lot about acrylic paint. I learned how to blend, and when you do blend you have to do it right as you put the paint on. I learned that you have to blend with a dry brush and not a wet one. Although I would have liked more time on this project I'm pleased with how it turned out.

Color Pencil Still Life

For this project we had to recreate a still life with colored pencils. I thought at first it would be really easy, but it turned out to be a lot harder than it looks. It was hard to create all the colors with a small amount of colored pencils, but it was a good thing because I learned more about blending. It was hard to do the shadows because its not just black and white for the highlights and shadows, But overall I like the way it turned out.

Chalk Pastel Fruits

Our assignment was to draw with pastel a fruit of our choice. We had to color the whole picture with chalk pastels along with the reflection of the fruit on the table.  I really like how it turned out. I thought it would be a challenge to put the Tomatoes on top of the background without messing up the background. But it turned out just as I imagined and I'm very pleased with my work.

Eye, Mouths, and Hands

I am preety happy with the finished product. I learned alot about shading and how much of a differnec it makes depending on the lighting.  I think I did a great job on the changing of lighting. I learned alot about blending and paying attention to detail. I wish I would of had more time to go into detail but over all Im very happy with it.
